The China Exchange Trip: March 14-28, 2020
This trip will allow students to explore both modern and historic centers of Chinese civilization, giving them a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in local environments while also experiencing a broad range of cultural traditions such as Taichi, dumpling making, tea ceremony, and shadow puppet show. During the five days of school visit, students will shadow their host students in the mornings, and attend cultural workshops and local sightseeing in the afternoons. They will also visit places of cultural interest including the Great Wall of China, the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, Temple of Heaven. Students on this trip will host a student from China when the Chinese students visit Winsor in late January 2020.
This trip is open to all Upper School students, with priority given to students who are in the Chinese program. The current estimated price for the trip is $4,000. This fee includes round-trip airfare from Boston to China, airport taxes, all ground transportation within China, hotel and lodging, all group meals, local tour guides, entrances to museums and historical sites, all cultural workshops, various excursions and all gratuities. Students are responsible for obtaining their own Chinese visa (~$200) and bringing their personal spending money (~$200) in China. The final price will depend on group size, airport taxes and surcharges, currency exchange rates, and other unforeseen variables.
